While not updating this blog as frequently as I plan, things are going in the right direction.  I am shooting a lot more and have added some new imagery to the galleries here on my website. Today I am sharing an IR image I captured recently out in Westport, WA.

This image of the observation tower in Westport was captured in what I called “deep black and white” in the IR world, what it really means is that I used an 850nm filter which blocks 100% of all visible light and only leaves IR light. While I am not going to go into technical detail about what different filters do and what they filter, internet searches will give you far more info than I can and I don’t want to duplicate those efforts. What I can say is that I chose this filter because it does a great job with concrete structures and an even better job with skies that have wispy clouds.
