This summer marks the 3rd monsoon season since we moved out of Arizona. The first year I wasn’t able to get back to chase the monsoon, but I have been able to the last 2 years. I made this image, High Desert Lightning, while in on a storm chasing / day job work trip over the last week near Winslow, AZ. (you know, the place made famous in the song by the Eagles)
I will be blogging more about this trip and sharing images from the day, but I wanted to give a quick shout out to my friends Bryan Snider and Chris Frailey who were my chasing partners for the day. They are great guys and we had a blast chasing storms in northern Arizona.
For those that are interested in such thing, this image was made with my Nikon D610 using the Nikon 28-300 lens. This Arizona trip was the first time I took either on a storm chasing trip and I really was curious how they would perform. I am happy to say that both lived up to every expectation I had. I actually made this image by manually firing the shutter as the lightning trigger that I was testing during the trip didn’t live up to expectations, but I will be posting about that soon when I post my review, stay tuned.
