Mermaid in the Grass

Mermaid in the Grass

Mermaid in the Grass

I have been making a real effort to post things to the blog a little more frequently, sadly I have been failing at doing so.  Just seems like there are to many things to do in far to few hours each day.  Perhaps that is why I really value the weekends and the time that I can get away from the house.  A recent trip out to Westport, WA is a perfect example.  We stopped by the Westport Winery on the way home and is where I made this image of a mermaid sculpture in one of their gardens.

We spent a little time doing some wine tasting and then wandered around the gardens before getting in the car and heading home.  I hope you enjoy the image, I do as it represents a very peaceful afternoon with some friends.

Solitude

Solitude

Solitude

I have been planning on sharing this image for some time, I made it last weekend while out in Westport, WA, but I have been spending my “photographic” time working on my site, you might have noticed that things look a little different around here.  What really drew me to making this image was seeing this woman enjoying a cup of coffee, with a great view, all by herself even through she was surrounded by tons of people, it was a very nice day and there were a lot of people in the area.  I am someone who truly values solitude and appreciate being able to find little periods of time to just be alone.  I can also think of a lot worse places to enjoy a cup of coffee.

When I made this image, I knew that it was going to be a black and white to not only capture what I thought the mood would be, but also to bring out some of the texture in the rocks and the ocean.  For this conversion I used Perfect Black & White from OnOne Software.  I hope you enjoy the image, and if you would like to see a larger version, simply click on the image.
